DIRECTOR: CHRISTOPHER PETIT

Christopher Petit’s tone poem debut feature, soundtracked by a remarkable collection of art rock, punk, and new wave (including tunes by Kraftwerk, David Bowie, and Devo), is nothing less than the great British road movie of its era, a somberly stylish black-and-white beauty shot by Wim Wenders cameraman Martin Schäfer which follows DJ Robert (David Beames) as he travels from London to Bristol on a quest to investigate the recent death of his brother. Radio newscasts and wayfaring strangers—emphasis on the strange—evoke the dire state of Britain’s Winter of Discontent while Petit deftly melds fiction and documentary elements, combined to create an indescribably eerie, reflective mood of haunted, hypnotic reverie.

A Fun City Editions release.
